iPhone 12 Pro Max | REVIEW

Let's talk about the iPhone 12 Pro Max. This is the flagship among the flagships. It's the big boy big status top status the most capable of all of the latest iPhones now.

It's a bit debatable as far as how much more capable? it is thn say for example the regular iPhone 12 Pro. That's the phone that many have been using.

One thing is for certain it is scaled up. It has grown up. It is physically bigger and they've got this of course this new design approach. So hopefully even though it's the largest iPhone. Hopefully, it's fairly manageable.

Of course what you get by scaling the device up is not just a bigger display, but also a bigger battery to go with it. So again for the power users that are out there on the iOS side of things.

This phone has been the target for you even though you've had to wait a little bit longer to potentially order this this year.

Apple staggered it out with the iPhone 12, and 12 Pro coming first. That's the device. First and regular iPhone 12 and then the Max and Minnie come at a later date presumably something to do with volume.

The other thing is this is just going to be price. That's the most expensive of all the iPhones. Starting price $1,099 USD depending on the region that you live. There could be a different price. But either way it's an expensive. It is the most premium of all of the iPhone 12 Promax. This is the gold model. That's correct. Of course, it's carrying the exact same design as the regular pro model.

Old Pro, so you should go check that out if you want to see color comparisons, but what you get with the pro part of the lineup is this stainless steel frame around the outside,. Obviously, it does collect fingerprints.

That's the one that's what you will have shipped to you if you preorder a later.

Case for either your iPhone 12 Pro or Promax, it has the subtle kind of camera modules up top. We're able to spot any difference in that region? when compared to the standard iPhone 12 because they are not.

So there is your regular Pro and look at the scale difference on the Promax. Each unit is substantially increased in scale. Not just at the phone got bigger, but each camera module got bigger

We have our cable in packet. There's no power brick included. You will need to bring your own power brick to the party. So this is the power brick recommending for iPhone. This is the power brick using with the 12 Pro. It's a tiny little 20 watt adapter from anchor the anchor Nano.

But this kind of gives you the old iPhone power brick with the power of the new iPhone power brick, which you have to buy extra and it does so for less money than Apples power brick. So this is kind of a cool little addition.

You got to have a faster recharge than whatever Old Brick. You may have like a 5 watt sitting around don't use that with a phone like this get yourself a 20-watt in exact same package. It's the Nano have your cable.

This is a type c to lightning cable pretty self-explanatory. We of course did not get type c on both ends because the iPhone still maintains the lightning connector, but this is the same for all the bottles and then it's a tiny bit of paperwork Sim tool and of course your Apple sticker is also inside the package. So it is good to say slide over the smaller model this thing is quite a bit bigger, and it's not just that camera unit. It's in every direction.

You know what? It's still manageable. It's definitely a big phone. You expect it to be a big phone. You know that it's a big phone.  which one is going to be my preference.

the main incentive is to upgrade would probably be the bigger battery. the battery difference is quite substantial. You've got just over 3,600 milliamp hours over here on the max model and on the smaller unit. You're around 2800 millibars now granted you've obviously got a different screen size to power up. So it's not a one to one type of thing, but you could I mean it's fairly safe to say that the max model is going to be when you want for battery life likely.

So the device is set up and honestly the biggest difference was it has differences.

There's there's some complicated camera stuff that's different on the Promax model compared to the pro but the scale of it is the main thing. it's a big reason people are going to make a decision between these two for hand, which is probably an average hand size the regular pro model.  much every aspect of the display even with a single handed grip on the max model that's a little more difficult to do but you kind of know you knew this going in to it's obviously and then on the flip side if you want a boot boot up a video or something, this is just more space.

This is just going to be a little bit more immersive and then that brings you to the camera because this is going to be. this thing needs some degree of explanation because even during the

Many people asking questions after the keynote took place. Like what is the difference between these cameras? they're physically different but they're also from a specification standpoint different.

Probably the biggest standout is that in the video mode on the Promax you have sensor shift technology for image stabilization, which presumably is superior to the more typical Optical stabilization that exists on the regular pro model. But the lenses actually have different attributes as well.

Regular pro model on the telephoto for example is an f/2 lens and then on the Promax the telephotos and f 2 point 2, so it's an interesting decision. Is that a superior lens even though it has a smaller aperture?

Does it have something to do with the sensor shift technology?

or the layout of this particular device as you get to the zoom aspect

Spec sheet it also states that have 2 .5 x optical zoom, so you have more zoom on the max model compared to the pro model and you'd even give you more digital Zoom.

Is it a superior that we have Superior image that allows them to give you more digital Zoom 12x over here 10x on a regular Pro, but either way those specs are fairly close.

Image stabilization thing is probably going to be the bigger Factor when you have. This has been a thing we've seen in some dedicated cameras.

Previously where you would have the actual in-body stabilization where the sensor is capable of Shifting and it can have a pretty dramatic impact on both photos and video.

You boot into the camera app, and you see right away that you're quick toggles for focal lengths .51 x + 2 on the regular Pro .51 X 2.5 on a pro back. So a little bit more reach but a slightly smaller aperture and really slightly.

Let's grab a plant and we will snap at point five, which is your wide angle 1 and 2.5. All right, so that zoom lens. That is some tremendous detail right there, with that 2.5 and it's a little more reach so probably because the optical brings you ever so slightly closer. They'll also let you keep zooming digitally a little bit further than you can on a regular Pro.

Standard camera probably the best performer of the bunch for standard focal range one. It's not any kind of crazy saturation on the green color of the plant.

Is that the different from the non Max? that's the standard.

That's the main camera on both units. It's a different look now, the displays are different as well so we can open up these images and take a closer look at it, but they kind of have a slightly different performance. Actually on the max model may be better contrast. interesting, but it could also be the display playing a role in this analysis.

Apple has had a substantial significant difference or any difference.

You can check on a spec sheet between the two Pro Models between their high-end models. It was used it was scale for so long. So all we would have to say is It's the bigger phone. Maybe you don't even want the bigger phone, but you're saying for a hundred extra bucks.

It could have a better performing camera and you might take that deal and therefore it now if you're serious about photography or video on your iPhone, you kind of have to scale up now granted this thing takes absolutely great photos.

But a lot of people just going to want the best and this one looks better when you add into it the extra image stabilization, the sensor based image stabilization.

A lot of people are going to be considering the big one because the price difference is actually not all that different if you're okay with scaling your device up to this size. That's another thing.

What about the front facing camera? those are essentially identical unlike the rear camera. These are doing pretty much the exact same thing. It looks good.

Now the other thing is video because we have this shifting sensor we have this stabilization on this model. That is not the same stabilization as on the other model. Let's do recording 4K, a 60 frames on both devices the pro and the Promax and you're going to see them both and you're going to compare them both.

Walking, a little bounce up the stairs. A subtle difference when I was shooting it. A slight advantage on Promax model. You know what they both look good. They both do a fairly decent job of smoothing things out. So anyway, as far as the stabilization in videos concerned, it's fairly subtle.

Maybe it'll be a little bit more significant you get blown up on the big display, but there's no doubt that if you can have a sensor shift adding to your image stabilization, it's going to be a thing that you want.

It's the regular Pro max out the volume. These phones have always sounded. it's a has more Bass. It'll be both sound good and it's close, but we have to give the edge to the max model.

Apple would put its best technology in its Promax model.

It's a bit complicated figuring out which to buy because the Promax really is the actual Pro by the looks of it as it stands right now, and so people are going to have to decide between the ultimate feature set which comes in a larger more expensive package.

It will still probably be too large for some people. Let's do a pocket as real check. No problem with 12 Pro and then let's do Max same thing fit for pockets. These are not super skinny. It's not a problem. It's more when you're holding it and using it.

It is the iPhone 12 Pro Max Review.
