YouTube Video SEO Score Calculator (Hybrid)
Paste a YouTube video URL to calculate base SEO score and bonus improvements.
Step 1: Gather basic video info
Go to the YouTube video page and note:
- Title → copy it exactly.
- Description → first 2–3 lines are most important.
- Tags → if you want to see them:
- Right-click → View Page Source → Ctrl+F “keywords” → look for something like
"keywords":["tag1","tag2"]. - Some tags might be hidden, but this usually works.

- Views, Likes, Comments → visible under the video.
- Upload date → visible under the title.
Step 2: Check keyword relevance
Pick a main keyword for your video. Then check:
- Does the title include the main keyword?
- Does the description mention the keyword 2–3 times?
- Are tags related to the keyword?
✅ The more aligned the title, description, and tags are with your main keyword, the higher the SEO potential.
Step 3: Analyze engagement
You can estimate SEO strength based on engagement:
Engagement rate formula (approximate):
Engagement Rate (%) = (Likes + Comments) / Views × 100
Example: 500 likes + 50 comments / 10,000 views → 5.5% engagement
Higher engagement = higher SEO score.
Step 4: Video metadata scoring (0–100)
You can assign points to basic SEO elements:

Step 5: Check for additional SEO factors
- Closed captions → improves watch time & indexing
- Playlist inclusion → helps discoverability
- Video length → longer videos often rank better if engaging
Add small bonus points (5–10) for these if present.
Step 6: Estimate overall SEO score
Add up points from Step 4 + Step 5 → gives a rough SEO score.
Example: 75/100 → video is good but could improve in description or tags.
