What to do now
Wash again with warm water and soap
Warm water works better than cold water for removing adhesive residues.
Gently rub the area with a washcloth.
Apply cooking oil, baby oil, olive oil, or petroleum jelly
Rub it onto the affected skin for a few minutes.
The oil often loosens adhesive residue.
Then wash with soap and warm water.
Do not peel the layer off forcefully
Pulling it off can damage the skin.
If it is super glue (cyanoacrylate)
Soak the area in warm soapy water.
Acetone (nail polish remover containing acetone) can help dissolve the glue, but avoid using it on broken or irritated skin and wash it off afterward.
Seek medical advice if
The skin becomes very red, swollen, painful, or blistered.
You develop a rash.
The adhesive got into your eyes or mouth.
You have numbness or severe burning.
