India has launched a military campaign called “Operation Sindoor”, targeting nine alleged militant locations across Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir.
According to media reports, airstrikes were carried out at five key locations: Kotli, Bahawalpur, Muridke, Bagh, Muzaffaraba.
Pakistan’s military has confirmed the attacks, stating that missiles were fired at different sites, resulting in 2 deaths and 12 injuries.
Islamabad has condemned the strikes and warned that it will respond accordingly.
The name “Operation Sindoor” carries symbolic meaning. Sindoor, a red powder traditionally worn by married Hindu women, appears to be a pointed reference to the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, located in Indian-administered Kashmir, where 26 people—mostly tourists—were killed.
India suggests the operation is a response to that attack.
